Gestational diabetes

Hi all! So I had a glucose test 3 weeks ago and it came back negative however, on my growth scans, my baba is measuring in the 98th centile with her tummy over 100 so they’re wanting me to check blood sugars. Yesterday was my first day and I was over the limit after every meal however, today- I’ve not changed anything and I’m under at every reading. I really don’t understand. I’m ringing the clinic on Monday but wondered if anyone else has or is going through this? I’m so worried about our baby and what it means.

I’m currently going through this now! My I’m 31 weeks and I’ve had 3 GTTs 20w/25w/30w and all negative apart from the last. It was 1 point over so they have diagnosed me with GD. My girl has measured 97th centile since 20w and is now just above it, her tummy has measured 2/3 weeks ahead since 20w also. I’ve been doing my bloods for 6 days and haven’t changed my eating and all my bloods are low! I don’t have any real advice but also feeling frustrated and confused. I’m so worried about my girl but they’ve said she’s perfectly healthy and has no issues so I’m just more confused about her size 😩 I have polyhydramnios as well but they can’t find a reason for that either and have said it’s due to GD..

@Georgie oh gosh that is confusing isn’t it! I do think I probably have an element of it with my bloods from yday but it sent my anxiety in a whirl wind as they don’t really give you many answers as to what it means. From speaking with my own midwife she did it’s about managing delivery more than anything but I’m the same as you, her tummy is 36 weeks and I’m 31. Everything else is around 95 centile but her tummy and head which is 98 and above 100

@Lucy I’m the same, so anxious now. I’ve had no answers other than they’ve talked me through potential risks with her birth so I’m now considering elective section just for my own peace of mind. Bless her, they must just be chunky girls 🤣 I’m a nervous wreck about how big she’s potentially going to get as she’s already 5 pound. Her head is 87th and her leg 64th. Ready for her to be out now 😩 this last leg of pregnancy is so tough. My anxiety is just through the roof x

Im experiencing the same thing! Soooooo stressful!! 😫😫😫

@Georgie mine is 95 for head, 75 for leg and above 100 for her tummy. She’s measuring 4lb14 at 31 weeks but her tummy is growing 36 weeks. They have said though that she’s in proportion and healthy and the risk with GD is around delivery if she’s big. No other risks for when she’s actually here but I’m not sure as reading online gives me the scares. They said they will most likely induce at 38 weeks but they’ll talk me through options. I’ve got to ring on Monday to be referred as I had my 3 readings yday that were above the recommended levels. I wonder though- does the time of day you eat affect results?

I have GD and I can have two days where pretty much everything is identical and one day my sugars are at the lower end of the limit and the next day they are at the higher end sometimes over. Baby is currently measuring on 95th centile even though my GD is classed as well controlled as I haven't had any out of range accept 2 or 3 in the first couple of weeks.

@Lucy that’s what they’ve said to me as well, it so nerve wracking. It does make me abit less anxious knowing she’s perfectly healthy she’s just on the bigger side. With her being our first tho we don’t know if I just carry big baby’s and that’s why she’s huge. Yeah that’s why they’ve said to me as well, it does help me relax a little bit knowing she’s perfectly healthy just scared for delivery as everything out there sounds terrifying! Yeah that’s why I’ve been told as well, you’ll have to let me know what they say about your bloods, I’ve got an app on 12th with a diabetic nurse. I had an appointment with a dietician a few days ago and was told that it can have an effect. I was advised to eat breakfast 8-9am, lunch about 1-2pm and tea between 6-7pm. They also said that drinking lots of water after a meal and going for a walk will help with levels
