Metformin For IVF

I took metformin consistently from my 3rd FET through to my 7th FET and up to week 16 of my pregnancy. The first couple of weeks were horrendous and it took me a while to build up to the full dose, after that I’d say it was fine other than a few random flare ups of GI symptoms x

So you took it for 4 cycles before obtaining a pregnancy? And did it help with weight or anything? Thanks much.

I was put on it about a month before we started ivf treatment and I was on it until I went for a consultant appointment when I was 12 weeks pregnant x

@Trish no, I had 7 FETs and fell pregnant with all of them but my first 6 ended in miscarriages. My recurrent miscarriage consultant put me on it as there are links with PCOS and miscarriages although I’m not entirely sure what they are. I’ve never had any weight issues so can’t comment on that, my cycles did become more regular and I did ovulate for the first time ever in between FETs, although I was doing lots of things too so can’t say what it was that made the difference x

No IVF but just taking 1000mcg daily to help me regulate sugars and increase chances of ovulation.

I took it for about six months while we did three IUI cycles, an IVF retrieval and a FET. Just started it again about two months ago for our second FET in a couple weeks! My doctor wanted/wants me to work up to four pills a day but any more than two a day makes me 💩💩💩 Two a day it is! 😅

I got put on metformin after my initial workup with the fertility clinic. I have pcos so its a common prescription for that. My doctor said i would stay on it at least through 12 weeks pregnancy, and at that time the regular ob would decide if i should continue, decrease dose, or stop. Of course… its been over a year now between miscarriages and wait periods between ivf cycles
