Thank you @Wanyu for taking the time to reply. That’s my little concern I guess, if I need to use my GP/EPU would it be better to be registered. I hope the scan reassured you, did you get to hear a heartbeat at 5 weeks? 🤍
In my area you don’t need to register pregnancy with midwives to go to EPU as they (midwives) won’t see you before 10 weeks or so anyway and the first nhs scan is around 12 weeks which is a bit crazy!! At 5 weeks we saw a sac and at 6 weeks we got a heartbeat. My ivf clinic saw us at 7 weeks and then we paid for private scans every week & did NIPT at 10 weeks to find out about gender in another local clinic!

I did the self referral to midwifes before being discharged from clinic. In my (and most) area you don't need to inform the GP, in fact if you try they pretty much don't want to know 😅 just tell you to self refer online to midwives. The clinic also said I could use them as much as I needed until my care had been taken over after my booking appointment. And yes, usually "high risk" but it doesn't tend to mean that much. I've only seen the consultant once and that's the extent of my consultant led care
Congratulations!! I also got pregnant with private ivf, and I did self refer (as suggested by my GP) to the local midwives at around 7 or 8 weeks I think. But I went to the walk in EpU after having some cramps at 5 weeks and got an early scan because of my history of recurrent miscarriages. IVF per se doesn’t make you high risk I think but I was high risk for my age (40) so I’m not sure!
