Potty training, I don’t know what else

This is becoming harder than I thought. My 2 yr old son has been sitting on the potty since 18 months. He will pee in it occasionally but won’t poop. I’ve sat him on it for 20 mins at a time, taken him every 45 mins, etc. but he will literally wait until his pull up is put on to then do his business. What am I doing wrong? Now when we go to sit him on the potty he has a fit about it and says” no I don’t wanna.” Can anyone help?

Try training pants rather than pull ups. Pull ups wick away the moisture and make them comfortable. They want to do what is easier for them so they won’t feel the need to change unless it’s no longer comfortable for them. You can use underwear, but it will get messy! I ordered some training pants from oosh baby and am waiting for them in the mail myself!

Sounds like he’s just not ready. It’s normal, most kids aren’t ready to start til 2.5-3

@Elizabeth I didnt think of this, thank you!

@Alexus that makes me feel a lil better bc I feel so behind lol

My pediatrician said not to even begin to worry about potty training yet. He said most boys aren’t ready for it until closer to 3 years old. I think you’re doing great. I offer my kid the option and for the longest time if we tried to put him on the seat he freaked out! Then one day he was fine with it and said yes and got excited when I asked him if he wanted it.

Don’t force him and he’ll do it when he’s ready

First of all, you're doing great! Second, don't push it too much. My oldest didn't start officially going 💩💩 in the potty until 4. I tried everything, toy rewards, screen time, candy...nothing. When he turned 4, a light switched on in his head, and he started going 💩 on his own. So, you're doing great, but it may not happen right away. Don't be upset, you got this

@Jules thank you mama
