if your planning on having a baby shower you could get your guest to guess if they think boy ask them to buy nappies of the brand your wanting to use , if they thing girl ask them to buy wipes of the brand you want to use, I didn’t start buying untill 30 weeks x…. Congratulations x

I didn’t start until after my 12 week scan

I didn’t buy a single thing until I was 20 weeks pregnant because I had hella anxiety. 😂 It doesn’t actually take that long to get everything you need - about two weeks before my son arrived I made a massive Amazon order and it all turned up within two days. Honestly, wipes, nappies and stuff like that you can buy in a day. Same goes for babygros and sleepsuits (H&M do great basics, plus friends and family always love buying baby clothes). Put together an Amazon wish list for all the little bits and bobs you want (muslin cloths, swaddles, baby blankets, bottles, breast pump, etc) and share it with your loved ones. At this stage, I would concentrate on saving up and doing some research on your big ticket items: a mini crib or next to me cot, a pram, a car seat, etc. Think about what you need and how it’s gonna fit into your life - and don’t bother buying anything the baby won’t use in the first six months because it’ll just take up space.

Oh I wouldn't buy anything until you're like 35 weeks. Cute stuff that you're excited about, sure, but nappies and stuff will just take up space unnecessarily. We had a rule that we could only buy one cute outfit every 5 weeks because we were getting out of control 😂

And congratulations!!

I'm 26+1 and have been picking up the odd pack of nappies/wipes for the last few weeks. We've focused on getting the big purchases and then are going to get a pack of nappies & wipes per food shop going forward

I wouldn’t advise you stock up on nappies as you don’t know what will suit your baby. My baby gets a rash from some brands but is okay using others. Now I’m sticking to using pampers as they work best for my LB but every baby is different and you don’t know what will work best until they are here. Also wouldn’t advise buying anything until your 20 week scan.

I disagree with not buying things baby won’t need for the first six months. We bought cot, next size car seat and buggy, high chairetc whilst I was still working and it’s been a god send to know that we don’t have to find the money for those big ticket items whilst on the pittance that is SMP.

I was putting money aside each payday but didn’t buy anything for a while. It took some time before i felt safe to do so, but having the money ready to go was very useful!
