@Hazel thank you so much Hazel, I’ll definitely keep a close eye for sure. And I actually did put it in her cheek, but I think I administered too much at one go and she probably couldn’t swallow it. Thank you for the advice! X
Ah yeh, perhaps. I tend to do the 2.5ml in about 4 or 5 bits. I also make sure he's at a good angle, upright and only slightly leaning back
Oh bless you both, that must’ve been scary. I’d just keep a close eye on her. Also going forward, not sure if this is the best advice or not but I tend to put the Calpol in the teat of a bottle lid and just hold the lid as they’re used to taking liquid at that pace if that makes sense, seems to work for us but again, not sure if that’s the best advice or not x
I’m sure that was scary for you, sorry 😢 Im glad she is fine now.
Your not a bad mum I'm sure it happens to everyone at some point what with weaning and everything
Happened to me a few times with the syringe i only use the spoon now much easier and no more choking scares xx
It happened with gripe water when my girl was only about 2 months old, absolutely terrified me! She wont take a bottle so a teat wont work but i know others it worked great for! I just do tiny amounts like the 2.5ml takes about 10 little goes and i wait to hear her swallow each bit (she likes to hold it in her mouth and gargle it🙄😂)
That must’ve been so scary for you 😭 if my LO needs any medicine (and on omeprazole daily) I use a teat, usually the medicines are too thick to come out teat on their own so saves any spillage and less likely to spit out their mouth xx
Definitely not a bad mum! These things happen and nothing that you done wrong! My baby struggles to swallow calpol from a syringe too so now i put it in the teat of the bottle and let him drink it like milk if this makes sense!
Oh bless her! She should be fine but I'd keep a close eye on her and her breathing for the next 24 hours. Just make sure you're facing the syringe into her cheek and not towards the back of her mouth or her tongue in the future, so that age registers it in her mouth and can actively swallow it and hopefully not choke again!
