Blood pressure

Did anyone have high blood pressure post pregnancy? If so, how’re they getting on now? I was on labetelol 4 times a day, then moved down to twice a day and then was taken off completely. 5/6 days after coming off I can see the blood pressure is creeping up slightly with the highest reading today being 128/88. I wondered if this was normal post pregnancy seeing as I gave birth 6 weeks ago and that I should just give it time? I am in touch with my GP but they’re not very responsive

I had preclampsia and it maintained after pregnancy too! I was same as you on Labetelol 4 times a day and now on twice a day, I did try to lower it to 1 a day but it kept creeping up. My GP said it can take a while and told me to stay on twice a day for another 4 weeks and then to drop again. I also been sent for blood tests next week to check my liver etc I am now 7 weeks since I had my little girl x

@Poppy thanks Poppy! What did your readings used to creep up to? I can’t help but feel anxious about it all. Congrats on your little girl x

When I was trying to come off them it would go up to 135/90. I still check mine daily but I do find if I'm a bit anxious about it then it's always high that day and next day it's fine.

@Poppy I am exactly the same, I’ve been taken off completely and I’m thinking perhaps I need to go back to 2. I’ll chase up with my GP. How did you find it when you were on two tablets? X

I developed post partum preeclampsia and was on 2 different meds ( Labetalol and forgot other) to manage my BP, it was a very slow weening process and got readmitted twice. 128/88 is high but still safe - did you measure it when you was relaxed with feet on the floor etc

@Catherine Wood so I am back on 2 a day now and my readings are still not that low 🙃🙈 They normally 122/ 82, my doctor wants it lower now before they try and ween me off then again

@Zane thanks for sharing - how is your BP now? Are you back to normal and how long did it take? I was relaxed with feet on floor & it was in the morning. I did three readings and lowest was 120/80

@Poppy I think we need to both remember we’ve not given birth that long ago! Keep me posted x

@Catherine Wood Yes it's not been long and it will improve. I think it's just the unknown as it's not something you expect to still have
