Potty training

Hi mums, feeling a bit low with this potty training and wondering if it's ever going to click with my girl. I feel like the potty success we have had is luck of her being on the potty at the right time and in regards to getting her to understand/realise when she is going/needs to go is just not happening. I know deep down maybe she isn't ready but I'm really starting to worry what with school being a year away. Any tips would be gratefully received thank you mums x

Try not to stress. My LG was introduced to the potty almost a year ago. She's pretty much gotten wees down, but she refuses to do a poo and still asks for a nappy. I've had moments where I've felt like she's not getting it, but I've just come to the realisation that she'll be ready when she's ready. Gentle encouragement, toys to take to the loo, books to read, bubbles, and treats after are all things we've done. Wishing you all the best 😊

I’ve been feeling the same recently too worried that she needs to fully crack using the toilet, wiping herself and pulling up and down her underwear and clothing all by this time next year! It seems a lot to master with how things are going currently 😩 I don’t really have any advice just know your not the only one struggling with it. We’ve just go her a potty training sticker chart so hoping that will help x

A lot can happen in a year, don’t put pressure on yourself! My daughters not potty training and I’ve just accepted it’s going to be a longer process, compared to some other children. Our biggest challenge is she just doesn’t want to do it, so I’m just going at her pace. I can get her to try and do a wee on the toilet now, as she said the potty hurt her legs. But she won’t tell us if she needs to go. She likes playing catch on the toilet, so that’s been my way to coax her in there!

@Jessica yes very true. We just need to go at their pace. We have been doing the same and taking colouring, books etc. Hoping one day it will just click! Thank you and you 😊

@Kerrie this Is exactly us. It does feel like so much in a year with how it is right now. It's so nice to know it's not just us struggling though, thank you for replying. That's our next step to try a sticker chart so hopefully will work for both of us! x

@Harri yes thats true. They are all so different and some crack it quickly and others take a bit longer but we will all get there. Definitely all we can do is go at their pace! We also have the issue that she doesn't tell us if she needs to go which makes it a bit harder too.
