Gestational Diabetes Test

Just wanted to share a more positive spin on the gestational diabetes test as I worked myself up SO much from posts on here and it honestly wasn’t that bad. I really wish I’d not got in my head about it! Literally didn’t feel a thing taking my bloods, the drink was nice and cold atleast (although I was the first appointment), not as thick as I anticipated - I was expecting it to be like really syrupy, yes it’s very sweet but I honestly didn’t hate it. It’s more that it just gets difficult towards the end as in your head you want to neck it but it’s so sweet you know it’ll make you sick haha. Midwife offered I could have water alongside to make it easier but to be honest I just wanted it gone. It’s obviously not nice but as I say not as bad as people made out. Definitely take something to do while you wait, forgot how uncomfy the chairs can get for that long 😂 thankfully I had a handheld fan too as it’s so hot today it kept my mind from feeling faint etc. But yeah just wanted to say I didn’t find it half as bad as I’d heard stories about ✌🏼

Hi, I had the same. I was so worried and I actually enjoyed the drink. Because of my eating routine, I had last meal at around 7pm and appoitment next day at 9. I was starving! I actually felt better having that drink 😅😅

I had mine today aswell and it was totally fine🙌🏼

I had a GDM test last pregnancy and just remember it was completely chill. Just drinking a sweet drink, relaxing, and having some bloods done. Wouldn't mind having the test again this time. 😂

Hi. Same. I really don't know what the fuss is about. Worst bit is the "hangover " later in the afternoon from the sugar high and crash

When I had my drink it tasted of capri sun 😂😂

I had my GD on Monday. The drinks were fresh out of the fridge and it tasted like a Capri sun/orange sport lucozade. I thought it was quite nice. The worst part was the sugar crash, like others have said, is the sugar crash. I sat and watched netflix on my phone for 2 hours. It was actually some nice decompression time.

Had one today and tbh I was the same worked myself up for no reason it was actually okay

Is the texture like lucozade?

@Lizzie it’s definitely thicker than a normal drink. Mine was raspberry flavoured, flat, just super sweet. It feels “thicker” towards the end but maybe that’s just due to the richness of the taste too? I was anticipating the texture to be like a thick syrup and it wasn’t that bad, but also not like water? Sorry it’s hard to describe 😂
