Children’s party

When you have ALOT of adults in the family and very few children , but you want to have a CHILDRENS birthday party for your child, how would you politely tell people it’s for children ? I feel like the family would get really offended if we said it was just for the children (obviously their parents too) but I can’t afford to keep hiring out large venues to accommodate lots of adults. Plus it takes the fun away from the children. Any advice would be appreciated please ?

Didn’t mention it to my partners family and when my mum asked about her party and timing I just told her she wasn’t invited and that a different family gathering was at our house after the actual party 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Chloe what I mean is, the children are part of the family, but I don’t want aunts, uncles and all the other adults there , I just want the children (and their own parents)

Why not just give the children invitations?

Children invitations with a plus one for the parents!

@gabi unfortunately the rest of the family don’t know boundaries so they would all turn up or assume they are invited too

That's got to be very irritating. What if you did something like a soft play? That way they all can't show up only those with kids?

@gabi they did for her 1st birthday. Personally I think it’ll be easier just not to do anything . She’s turning 3 so I might just wait until she’s older .
