Will my baby be allergic to my cats?

Hi all, I’m 22wks pregnant and we have 3 cats and a Yorkshire terrier. I’m mildly allergic to cats, and have had these mild pet allergies since I was around 11 years old. However I was never around any pets regularly until I was 11. I usually take an antihistamine daily but haven’t since being pregnant. I’ve noticed my allergies are only noticeable when the cats come for a snuggle (sneezing, mild itchiness of eyes /hands) nothing bothersome. I also keep the house very clean of pet hairs etc by cleaning and hoovering a couple times per day (I have to or I notice the allergies more). My question is… what are the chances of a baby being allergic to the pets? Or if they do develop allergies, will these not come out until they are a bit older? I worry that our baby might be allergic to them and what the options are if this happens. My pets are my first babies💓

There is always a chance but I heard you being around cats when pregnant reduces the risk actually. I have 3 cats and that was my worry too, thankfully no allergy so far.

There are studies saying babies and young children brought up in households with animals are less likely to have allergies to animals who malt

Personally I believe allergies are something you develop as you get older. The only allergy I've had since a kid is to evergreens. Since 30 weeks pregnant I developed an allergy to kiwi. I wouldn't worry too much. My mum wasn't around pets during her pregnancy with me and I ended up growing up with a collie and 2 cats with no allergy to either

Have you heard of the food that's available to feed cats to help with human allergies towards them? https://www.purina.co.uk/brands/pro-plan/cat/liveclear There might be others available but effectively feeding cats eggs from hens exposed to cats helps lower the allergens (that's what I understood). If you're worried later on that allergies might start showing, it might be worth giving this a go!

I have 2 cats. My little boys now 5 months old and is absolutely fine with no signs of allergies whatsoever x

Thanks everyone thats made me feel more at ease! 😄
