Online midwife appts because of "covid"

I got a letter from my trust today saying I've been judged low risk so some of my midwife appointments can be online video calls because of "covid". Ok for one thing it's 2024, for another thing, you are meant to be using a tape measure, checking blood pressure and checking urine sample... how is it ok to miss all that in online appointments? I will be refusing but has anyone else been invited to change their appointments to online? I am over 35 and it's my first pregnancy so I don't agree with their risk assessment either.

Even during the height of Covid at St Thomas in central London, all my appointments were in person. Never missed one due to lockdowns or Covid. That sounds like a BS staffing excuse tbh. I’m back at St Thomas’ now with a December baby and Covid or online appointments hasn’t been mentioned once xx

Sounds like they’re fobbing you off, I would be annoyed too.

During Covid I went to all my midwife appts with a mask on x

Agree with the above. I was pregnant with my first in peak Covid/lockdown. Only my first midwife appointment was over the phone. The rest were in person throughout and scans. Just had to wear a mask and go in by myself

I agree with you that they need to do all of the checks. You will be worrying otherwise

That's disgraceful - I'd push to actually be seen.

During covid I was f2f at appointments just had to wear a a mask. I had a 2021 baby now with this one as its 2nd pregnancy ongrt alot less appointments even though I'm higher risk this time round but never no online appointments
