How often do you menstruate with PCOS?

My last period was in late March, so 5 months ago. I’m not pregnant. This is normal for me, with having PCOS. Just curious how often other ladies with PCOS get their cycle… Thanks!

I have a period sometimes every 3 to 7 months. So sometimes I have only 3 a year or 4.

I have a period every 38-45 days. Lately my mine have been longer with lighter flow and very unpredictable start/stop dates.

I used to get my period every month until it stop I wasn’t pregnant so I went to the doc and was diagnosed with pcos. They put me in bc to get my period but I stopped and so did my period. I started taking inositol and got my period the following day I get my periods monthly now and I’m sure it’s the inositol. It’s changes but I get my period monthly

I got pregnant with baby #1 and after birth I got my period like normal after that I was 4 months without a period and then got my period regularly but I have difficulty conceiving baby #2

Before I started birth control I would have one maybe every six months. Then about 9 years ago I started seeing an amazing doctor that actually cared. She started me on a low dose birth control pill and that started everything.

On my own, my cycles can vary wildly from 2 weeks between periods to 4-5 months. I might also have it for a day or two, or once I had a period for almost 6 months. Birth control made me regular, I also did a couple rounds of letrozol about four months ago and I've been having regular cycles ever since (not sure how long that will last though)

@Angelica yeahhh I was on inositol when I was trying to get pregnant with my first child but didn’t notice a change unfortunately

@Nikki I was on letrozole briefly when TTC with my first also. It helped, but I didn’t get pregnant until I did IVF. never thought about going on it to regulate cycles…I have two kids now and don’t think I want a third anytime soon though, so not sure if that’d be a good idea for me.

Thanks so much ladies! This makes me feel better that this amount of time seems “normal” for someone with PCOS. It’s just like…I started seeing a new primary care doctor, and at my annual physical, which I had yesterday, he asked when my last cycle was and I said umm like 5 mos ago. And he just seemed like my answer was so strange….it made me really self conscious!

I was diagnosed with this after my first baby.. I had about 3 periods in nearly a year and it took me all that time to fall pregnant again.. very irregular but they do happen and I’ve heard some things to try to increase a certain hormone that could help periods come on? Feel free to message me if you want to

@Laura completely normal I'm ttc and I'm on 1,000mcg of Metformin to help with ovulation if I wasn't ttc they usually give me birth control

Last year I didn’t get it for 8 months… wasn’t pregnant! Took progesterone only BC February to early April bled every day lightly… stopped it & had my period come May, June, July.. August 17th found out I was pregnant and this past Sunday I miscarried… this is a first for me 🙏🏻

@Angelica same here. That what they did to me too. I was a coward to take birth control pills. They put me on 2 month only took the first month because prior to that I was bleeding months. I told them I was ttc.
