Childcare and going back to work
My maternity is running out soon and I won’t be able to go back to my job, I would like to pick up a job where I can work a couple of days as I really need the money but I don’t have any family or support and putting my boy in nursery is so expensive it wouldn’t be worth it going to work.
Can anyone tell me if I would be entitled to any help at all? I just would like to do a day to two a week

I was in the same position and i got 80% of my childcare costs paid for by universal credit! U can check on benefits calculator, i have a fairly well paid job and work 4 days a week.
Have a look at the gov.uk childcare choices and I would also do a benefit calculator with potential childcare costs included in it. Entitledto.co.uk is a really good site to use.
In addition to the above, all children over 9 months of working parents are now entitled to 15 hours of funded childcare a week so this will reduce costs further for you. I earn slightly above the threshold for UC so the funded childcare has helped financially x
As of now (Sept '24) I believe you can get 15hrs (1.5 days ish) from 9 months
