Universal Credit

This may seem like a weird question but I’m currently a SAHM and claiming UC (my fiance works full time). My little one will be 2 soon and I was thinking of starting to work. I found a job and having interview but it’s 4h contract. We already get small amount of UC but for some reason I have a family member who believes you do not need to declare to UC if you work under 10h a week. I cannot find any information on this. Does anyone know if this is true or just load of nonsense 😁 thank you!

you do need to. universal credit is not based on how many hours you work but the amount you bring in. they will also see your wages from HMRC

@Alyssia exactly what I thought and read already. No idea where they came up with that. 😂

i believe old job seekers allowance allowed you to work a few hours without effect xx

UC will be informed by HMRC so if you don't inform them they'll class it as fraud You will be able to add on childcare costs to your UC so you might not lose that much UC wither

@Alyssia that would actually make sense x
