Superstition

I bought stuff after my sons first early scan at 8 weeks as I didn’t believe that could jinx anything.. but saying that I didn’t bring the pram home from the shop until a week before my induction - just incase! x

@Jennifer I’m very impatient so would want the pram home with the car seat too. But maybe can speak to in-laws or parents and ask to keep it there😅

I’ve heard of waiting till you’re out of the first trimester to buy things just as you would wait to tell people, but definitely not waiting till the 3rd trimester you don’t wanna stress yourself out at the end trying to shop 😩

@Rupi I’ve told family when we were 3 weeks. I told work when I was 5 weeks pregnant as I was really sick. I have started to get some bits now. I’m 9 weeks and 4 days now

Oh yeah you can obviously tell people based on your own situation! I just meant that’s the reasoning I’ve heard for the superstition of not buying things 😅 personally my husbands told his friends already and were only 6 weeks 😂

I don’t believe in superstition, but personally won’t buy anything until after the 12 week scan, just in case anything like a missed miscarriage happens, as I think it would make me sadder if I had baby items around. But saying that I’ve also had one baby already, so have got a lot of the basics anyway

I’ve bought 4 lil outfits from Tesco because I have no restraint but am telling myself to stop now until after my 12 week scan just in case

I think it depends person to person to be honest I think if you want to tell people you can it's your journey and your allowed to be excited I'm 8 weeeks and itching to buy some stuff but I just want to go to our first scan first to make sure everything is ok which it will be then I think I will pick up little bits and bobs I think pram and car seat wise I would hold on for a bit as they quite expensive and want to get something that isn't too expensive

@Callie I’ve bought some little bits for nursery from like SHEIN and TikTok as I was making an order and adding that meant no delivery fee 🤣

@Kdec22 we’ve had an early scan at 7 weeks and everything was perfect then. We have a scan on Tuesday so everything should be perfect

I won't buy anything until after 12 weeks as if I had a MC I wouldn't want the stuff around me all the time

I definitely started getting things in my first trimester lol😭 Had a cot, all clothes, baby wardrobe, car seat, toys by 20/25 weeks and a pram by 35 weeks 😂😭 I had no patience ! Baby is nearly 7 months now and 2nd on the way!

@Khadija I seen a beautiful travel system on marketplace today and it was something I wanted but in not spending money on it brand new 🤣 it also came with car seat adapter for car seat I want 🤣

For my first I bought stuff after 20 weeks as I felt it was safe to do so then. I wanted the pram built and ready so we had it in the house

I didn't wait to buy things, not sure I've heard of that one BUT I agree I didn't have the pram in the house! Although now I'm pregnant with our second, the pram is in the house and has been for 3 years so 🤷
