Spots in vision and dizziness

Hi all, I’m 33w and I’ve felt awful all day dizzy/weak and nauseous, before any meal i feel so weak like I could collapse. About an hour ago had some spots/speckles in my vision lasting about 20 seconds, I’ve rang triage and mentioned that I’d read that these symptoms could be associated with pre eclampsia or GD. The midwife was so blasé, she disregarded all my symptoms and said she’d never heard that any of these symptoms were associated with GD/pre eclampsia and told me to simply ‘eat more’, especially ‘more carbs’, I did say i literally haven’t stopped eating all day as it’s the only thing that seems to help with the nausea/weakness/dizziness. I’ve had 3 GTT’s already as glucose is always high in my urine tests and she even said ‘all your growth scans look fine’ despite being told 2 weeks ago that baby boy was measuring 3-4 weeks ahead weighing approx 5lbs at 31 weeks and to monitor for GD symptoms. The midwife was so condescending and even scoffed saying my latest observations (2 weeks ago) were normal and so I shouldn’t be worrying. Feeling quite confused and frustrated tbh.. any advice would be appreciated? 😫

She doesn’t sound like she’s listening. When I get my eyes tested, they say to keep an eye out for moving spots like what you’re saying. Could you book an eye test so they can check for anything?

I literally have all these symptoms and have tested negative for both! Baby is on the 97th percentile at 34 weeks and we’re being induced at 37/38 weeks so she doesnt get too big, that’s all I’ve been offered x

I get these symptoms when I’m low I’m type one diabetic I’d keep pushing for answers

Sorry to hear you’re going through this. I’ve had similar issues, for two days in a row now I’ve had tunnel vision with spots in my vision making it difficult for me to see, lasting around 20 minutes. But my midwife didn’t know how to advise and the midwife’s on the hospital line just said get your eyes tested. Feels like slightly more than that, but hard to push anything as my blood pressure and urine tests are fine. It’s worrying and unsettling to not get much reassurance for it. My own theory could be that more rest is needed and maybe we’re doing more than we should be. But hard to say ☹️

I’m from the US so maybe things are a bit different but that sounds insane they’re not doing more for you… I get asked every appointment if I have floaters, blurred vision, nausea etc. and the baby boy is measuring ahead?? Is there an OB you can connect with over your midwife? You can always ask for a second opinion. Listen to your gut, you know what your body is experiencing. Hope you can get some questions answered, advocate for yourself 💪

As someone who struggles with blood pressure being up and down constantly, I am always told that if i see stars, blurred vision, pain on top of bump and headache to go straight to maternal unit to get checked over, check baby and bloods done for preeclampsia. Pre eclampsia can be so dangerous for you and baby. I would ring the hospital and demand to be checked over xx
