I’ve cried a lot!

This GD is not for me I am being so strict with food, yesterday at my app they wanted to start me on the metformin now I’m very much against putting medication in my body because of the anxiety it causes due to traumatic situations so I became overwhelmed and basically told the nurse no there has to be another way which she explained to me it’s only because before dinner my levels a slightly above 5.3 which I think is ridiculous with my first I was never tested for GD which they are now making the assumption I could of had due to him being 7.lb 3 at 41 weeks the whole thing is very contradicting but more importantly is anyone taking metformin because I feel like this pregnancy is not going the way I hoped and I’ll be left with no other option.

🫂 it'll be ok... How many weeks do you have left? It's better to gets things under control sooner than later because the placenta isn't doing what it's supposed to do. You can thank your partner for that 😬 Getting blood sugar under control isn't just about the size of the fetus. There are a plethora of other issues that can affect the fetus due to high sugar levels. I ended up taking insulin (and became allergic to it which led to birthing at 37w + 4d) because diet and exercise did nothing for my fasting levels. I feel like in the states, they bypass metformin and go straight to insulin. Pregnancy hardly goes the way people hope (at least I was on the same boat) but once the baby is out, all of this GD nonsense will hopefully be a thing of the past. This is just a little blip in time 🫂

@Mee this blip in time had another 9 weeks to go I’m just confused as my reading after lunch was over 8 and I did it again just to see and the difference was quite significant as in it could be the difference between taking metformin and insulin

7 lbs is a normal sized baby. Why would they think you had GD before because of a normal sized baby? If it's only your before dinner number maybe try exercising before dinner even just a short walk to help get the number down?

@Kate because he was born at 41 weeks he was “small” for the gestation and I am starting to do this x

But GD babies are usually big. Small doesn't make sense. They are especially big in untreated diabetes because they are getting uncontrolled sugars. What your doctors are saying doesn't fot whatthe research shows
