Introducing the potty

I was on the phone talking to my dad about how my 14 month old hates diaper changes. He's been on Pampers Cruisers 360 for a while now because he hates being laid down to change his diaper, but now it's getting to the point where he dislikes them period. My dad mentioned to me about why don't I introduce the potty to him. At first I thought, "Isn't he too young?" But my dad didn't necessarily say to start potty training, he basically said to introduce because: 1. My son pulls his diaper/shorts down when it's bath time or when he has wet/soiled diaper. 2. He stops, finds a spot on the side of the couch to grunt when he poops. 3. He doesn't wake up to a chipotle burrito sized wet diaper every morning. So then, it made me think, IS IT too early? Now I don't know. Has anyone else started to introduce the potty to their LO?

YES. My daughter has always hated a wet diaper. Basically anytime I go to the bathroom I take her with me and tell her what I’m doing. Then when I do the diaper I tell her what I’m doing and if she peed or pooped. Then she started running for the bathroom when she had to poop. She would mess her diaper then leave the room. Following that she learned “go poop” and “potty”. (She says poop for both right now). She will also say poop if she needs a diaper change. I then introduced her to a training potty. She is not to the point of pulling pants down so I have to rely solely on her telling me. But we have had 3 pees and 1 poop in the potty so far! I keep just missing her because I also have a newborn that I usually have to sit down then get to my toddler to take pants and a diaper off. (We tried pull-ups, but she isn’t ready for them yet) Oh we also sing a potty song when I take her with me, when she is getting a diaper change and when she is sitting on her training potty.

A Chipotle burrito sized diaper has me dying! Lol

It's definitely not too early! My bg is 14 months, and we got her a potty about a month ago, slowly introducing it. It's hard to gauge when she actually needs to potty but morning times, as soon as she wakes up she pees, so I've started putting her on the potty first thing in the morning for pee. I put the potty in the living room during the day so she doesn't have to go far and it's always in sight but catching mid day or evening pees have been a bit harder since it's not like she goes at the same time everyday except mornings.

Definitely not too early! My kiddo doesn’t have as much awareness as yours but we’ve even just been showing him what a toilet is for! We’ve been wondering if we give it a try as well!
