Pregnancy pillows

I have no idea if I'm being dumb or if it's just the way I sleep. I've got a sausage long full body pillow and not a clue how to use it. I tried to find some info on the best way to use it as it was a £100+ pillow (dumb purchase, I know), and then I bought a different style one for cheap. It's like a circle cut in half. Those 2 semi-circle pillow things, but I wake up with awful back ache and sleep better without. But I'm getting to the point where I need some sort of support for my hips. Is there any other pillow or know how to best use the ones I've got. I feel so dumb on not knowing how to use pillows 🤣 I blame the way I sleep. I wriggle, toss, and turn ALOT in my sleep

I’m guessing the sausage one goes in front of you for you to basically hug and wrap your legs around? I have a C shaped on and i face the long part with the open bit around my back, i have my right leg under it and left leg over and it supports my hips really well, if it’s long enough but not thick enough i would say fold it over and pop it between your knees x

@Katie I feel like I'm too small for the pillow. As it's double the size of me. It's the same length as the double bed and its quite thick. I'll try and find the one I've got so you can see what I mean

Oh wow okay😂 mine is the perfect length for me, is yours too late to return so you can find one that suits you better maybe? I think i paid l just over £30 for mine and it doubles up as a feeding pillow, so many uses for it after pregnancy so well worth it at that price

@Katie https://www.johnlewis.com/bbhugme-pregnancy-pillow-stone/p4919405?s_ppc=2dx_mixed_fashion_BAU&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw59q2BhBOEiwAKc0ijQyUcb1bPzX8-HDMXTOQ1T99Yti1X5qSW9ORzU7s0HwTf_In5IbW8hoC3qsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds I'm sure that's the one I've got. It looks about right and price is about the same

I’ve got that exact same pillow and it did take me a little bit of trial and error to find my comfy positions. I find it most helpful to hug it and lie it long ways in between my feet and knees to align my hips and that generally helps relieve hip pain. I sometimes semi lie on my front with the sausage pillow propping up only the top leg if that makes sense and that helps take the weight off the outer points of my hips and stops them going numb. I do also still use my preferred pillow for my head. Try adjusting the firmnesses with the clips too. It’s recommended to start loose and up the firmness as you get more used to it. Honestly, I tried several pillows and found the sausage bbhugme one the best

I have two. Sausage one and a dream genii and I cannot get on with either. I can't even sleep on them. They irritate the crap out of me. Dream genii is better than sausage for me but nah. I've tried. I've failed. I find them too thick and too solid. They do say to make sure you've got support between knees and ankles so hopefully you can get it to work for you for the price you paid. Thankfully my dream genii I got for a 5er on Vinted!

I have the bbhugme and the way I use it is mostly behind me to stop me rolling onto my back (I tuck a little underneath me and roll onto it) and I fold up the lower part so it's between my knees. So it's like a J shape. Alternatively, I think bbhugme does have a YouTube video on the "classic" way in front of you but I found I got too hot with it there.

You can use them however you like, but the support you'll most likely need is : - a pillow between your knees - something sightly under your bump to take the weight off - something behind your back to stop you rolling onto your back and again allow you to take some weight off. Towards the end of my first pregnancy I only got comfy by laying v slightly towards my back to take the weight off my hips

I have the one that looks a bit like a pair of trousers that has been stuffed and I use it upside because having the join under my head gives me a stiff neck so I have that end at my feet instead. I then have one "leg" of the pillow between my legs and supporting the belly and the other behind me to keep me propped up and stopping me rolling on to my back in the night.
