Help/benefits - can anyone help?

Hi! I am due to give birth in October and go on MAT leave at the end of September, I get 6 weeks at 90% rate then the rest SMP. Does anyone know what kind of benefits I will receive/how much roughly? I am really stressing out about how I am going to survive. I will be a single parent living on my own (council rented) if that helps at all and probably no help from baby’s dad. Thanks ❤️

These are the ones I know about; -If it’s your first baby then you can receive a £500 maternity grant (if you are eligible through receiving certain benefits) - Child benefit which is £102 a month - UC - child element

You’ll get grandted just what you need to survive, you’ll have enough for bills (excluding unnecessary ones such as subscriptions and car payments etc, despite popular belief cars are not necessity when it comes to benefits unless you are disabled) and your food etc, you’ll not have a lot extra for such things as acrylic nails regularly expensive hair apps or shopping trips but you’ll have enough to feed and clothe baby and eat yourself until you’re back to work.

Go on the entitledto website and put your info in and it will give you an idea x

No one can answer this without knowing more of your circumstances But your universal credit will include An element for you Child element And housing element There will be some deduction made from that for your SMP but you’d still get something from UC On top of that you’d receive child benefit Claim CMS from baby daddy!

So for universal credit if you’re under 25 you’d get £311.68 - standard allowance £287.92 - child element Then whatever your rent is (as you’re council assuming you have a 1 or 2 bedroom property you’d get the full amount on there.. If you only get SMP you’d get approx £736 a month As you’d have a child your first £404 earned is ignored by UC when working out your wage deduction So you’d have roughly £182/183 deducted off your full universal credit amount :) I hope that helps!

If you’re over 25 your standard allowance is £393.45

Thank you ladies 🥰
