Starting to freak out about finances

I’m 34 wks, organising maternity leave etc and starting to really freak out about finances. We have a 19 month old so I haven’t been able to earn much or get a lot of gov support because we have a tiny bit of savings — which is actually getting eaten up by childcare, cost of living, maternity etc We live in london and I honestly don’t know how we’re going to survive… Bub 2 happened faster than expected coz our son took 4 years to come so we were expecting to add to the pot before being blessed with another… Looks like I’d need to earn £65k to live comfortably in London and I just don’t know how I’m going to be able to make that amount of money… any suggestions

65K per person or together? That sounds crazy much. We defo don't earn that even together with hubs 😄 And we live very comfortably in London. BUT that being said, yes I agree, everything costs an arm and leg and I am also worried about maternity pay as my salary will go down by like 60%- 65% 😑 Which will be hard so husband is looking for a new job so he can earn that difference we will be missing. We are planning to buy a house next year so I really do not want to go into my savings to pay bills and food 😬😬 I guess my advice is your husband/partner has to get a 2nd job, new job or do extra hours unless you want to somehow WFH to earn more.

@Gabi before we had our first kid it was doable on 65k together Since then, cost of living has made it ridiculous… and then add childcare on top of that. I completely feel you. It makes me so sad to eat into our savings for this stuff I’m just going to have to work more. Which I find pretty difficult when I’m breast feeding etc

Childcare is impossibly expensive! To be honest the cost of living is one of the reasons why we considering to move abroad, because prices of houses in here are unreal, as you said the childcare, maternity which lasts for only 9 months. All sucks.

@Gabi yes we are definitely going to move as well. Living in london is not sustainable for us sadly
