Gestational diabetes test?

This might sound silly but does everyone have to do the GD test? I’m currently 24 weeks, have no risk factors and nothing has been mentioned regarding it. Only asking as I’m awful with blood tests, especially fasting ones and I’ve heard some really awful experiences with this test, if I did have to do the test is there any way they can test without the fasting?

No not everybody does x

Iv not had to I’m 35 weeks now

Only if there's a diabetes history running in your family X

If bmi is fine too and they haven’t suspected a big baby (on a growth scan for example)and urine is fine then there should be no need.

They told me at my bookong appointment. Both mine and my fiancé's dad's have diabetes so I have to do it. Give you midwife a call if you're unsure x

No, I did because of ketones found in wee sample when I was pregnant. If you do, it has to be fasting and appt should be early morning before you eat or drink anything other than water. This is because they take a blood sample to check your fasting blood sugar. Then they give you a glucose drink to take and take a second blood sample an hour later, then you're done and wait for results
