Cafcass hearing, advice please?

I’ve got a first cafcass hearing in a week, any advice on what to expect and how to prepare? Any moms have been through this and how was it for you? I’m really anxious because I still battle ptsd symptoms due to the father’s abuse and I’m worried about how will I do during the call. TIA xx

My advise would be be honest about you and your children's feelings. But be child focused. You're allowed to be scared and upset but cafcass judge straight off the bat. Depending on what they're supporting with. They will want to know you are mentally and emotionally capable of caring for your kids whilst trying to support some contact with dad ( again completely depending on the situation). I've seen the first interview be enough to get a restraining order for people. I myself being very overwhelmed by a lot of things have taken 18 months of csfcass and family court to learn they do not care about us as individuals. They're logic is child based. So aslong as they know your child/ren come first for you. That's all that matters. I'm here to talk if you need a chat. I fled my sons father at 3 months pregnant for DV. I don't know everything at all but I know a little 🥰

My advice would be to keep it child focused and factual. Keep all messages to back up what you're saying. They don't care about how you feel it's about what's best for your child/ren. Also it won't be taking into account any abuse towards you. If he's abused children or they have witnessed it and are affected then that will count. Just be honest with them xx
