“They won’t even remember”

I don’t usually post negative things about this group, but as our babies first birthdays are coming up I’ve seen a lot about presents & parties. I’ve noticed the people not throwing parties/doing presents always say “well they’re not going to remember” “why would I waste money” and it annoys me 😂 yes that’s true, but to me it’s not a waste 🤷🏼‍♀️ we’re not going crazy, but I want to celebrate her, with family and friends. There’s nothing wrong with not doing that, but don’t dig at people who are

Fully agree with this post! I’ve actually started to day to people ‘am I not allowed to enjoy my motherhood’ because I am sick of people saying ‘but she won’t remember’ we are going to Disneyland Paris this month & if I had £1 for everytime them worlds have been said oh my spending money & the trip would have been paid for 3 times over🤦‍♀️

@Hannah I know! It’s so annoying. This summer my partner had some time off which is rare, so we took our daughter on lots of different day trips, and my friend said those exact words, “why are you bothering she won’t remember” 🥲 shall I just leave her in a box till she’s old enough to remember my parenting then orrr? Drives me crazy! I’m going to remember! And it’s such good stimulation for them whether they remember it or not

Makes me think we aren’t allowed to enjoy our whole motherhood, feels like we should wait till they are around 4 when they can start to remember stuff🤦‍♀️
