Unemployment Due to childcare

Hi all! My maternity leave just ended and I quit my job because there isn't a practical alternative for my baby's childcare at this time. Has anyone been successful at filing an unemployment claim for these reasons? If so, I'd like to know your experiences. Thank you in advance!

My understanding is that you only get paid unemployment if you are actively looking for work and are not able to find it

I extended my maternity

I extended by talking to the doctor and he diagnosed me with severe postpartum so I was able to stay longer on my and get paid longer

I just quit my job for that same reason. When I filled for unemployment it did ask me why I was unemployed one of the options was child care problems.

I was in the same situation, unfortunately I was denied. In order to receive unemployment, you have to actively be looking for work and ready to work; nothing can be preventing you from working. It’s stupid because I can work from home with son , I just can’t go in person but I would still have to decline jobs that don’t allow that flexibility which means I’m not “ready” or “available” to work. I hope that helps!

@Jay Have you heard back from them?

@So’yaZhe Well that's lame because you are ready to work from home!

Hi, yes I did. I was approved of my unemployment.

@Jay Congratulations! Can I PM you?

Yes you can.
