You have to fast which I’m sure you’ve been told they take blood you have the drink they give you then 2 hours later more blood only after that can you eat I can’t remember if they give you a second drink when you go back after 2 hours it’s not too bad but I did get dizzy near the end of the 2 hours

@Stephanie oh no, im gonna be being sick I can’t not eat for long periods of time without feeling funny usually let alone pregnant. What is the drink like? My Midwife told me if awful 🙈 super worried haha x

It’s sugared water if I remember right as it’s to test for diabetes in pregnancy it wasn’t too bad slight aftertaste your I took chocolate and a drink for after so I could have it once the second bloods were taken how early is your appointment they usually do it around 9ish in the morning

I was worried about fasting too but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. As Stephanie says, they usually give you an early appointment so you just have dinner the night before as normal and then don't have breakfast before the appointment. The drink I had was like very sweet orange squash. Not nice but not horrendous either (and I don't like orange squash at the best of times!). I'd bring plenty of stuff to keep you entertained in the waiting room as you're not supposed to go for a walk or whatever while you wait as that can affect the results.

@Stephanie yeah mine is at 9 :)

@Rebecca perfect, thankyou. My partner has said he will come with me too try and help ease my nerves haha, ill take my phone and a magazine or something Thankyou for the help ❤️

I had one a few weeks ago. As above dinner then nothing the next day. I also had a 9 o’clock appt. The drink I had was raspberry flavor. It honestly wasn’t that bad. The 2 hours and they asked me to stay in the department as you’re not supposed to move too much. Then 2 hours later more bloods then you can eat. I was allowed water so that kept me going after downing the drink. That filled me up after not having breakfast. You will be fine 😊take a book or headphones. It gets abit boring!

@Rachel thankyou, i hope mines raspberry id be away with it, its my fav haha! Starting to feel abit more relaxed about it now x

I’ve got my one in October and in all honesty I’m not looking forward to it, my last one I felt very ill and felt like I was going to pass out. My midwife have said I can do it with her instead of going to hospital or I can refuse it altogether, this is my 5th baby but my partner is keen for me to have it although never had a positive result
