Newly diagnosed w/GD

I was just diagnosed with GD and I got the emotional waves out the way. My fasting and 1 hr blood readings were normal but, my 2hr and 3hr were higher. I honestly thought I was doing great with diet and being mindful. I’m so nervous. I’m 29 weeks and I already have low iron but it’s not extremely low but I still need supplements. I just want to know will I have a healthy delivery? Will I need to be induced more than likely or a C section? And what I need to eat going forward. My family is telling no sugars at all, nothing red like artificial, and that I could still have GD after birth and it could get worse. It’s getting me scared and I just don’t want to worry for the sake of my baby.

For most it clears up after pregnancy. Your ob care team will have more specific guidance. And generally yeah. Limit added sugars is what you'll need to do. But there are other great things you can do for your diet! Lots of fiber and protein! Your care team will have more specific diet instructions but until then, focus on limiting added sugar and getting food fiber and protein and those will get you off on the right foot.

Thank you!

I had gd and had my baby 3 months ago nearly now, delivery was fine, my sugars were controlled throught even tho I couldn’t eat through labour I was induced but not due to gd I had PROM, so not because of gd Baby was absolutely fine Please join the GDUK group on Facebook I swear it is sooo helpful as advice I was given n by the health service nhs in uk was bad and wouldn’t of stayed diet controlled with what they told me, I followed that diet from that group and never had a bad reading ever yes it was hard I had no chocolate etc but it worked I was so scared but honestly it all works out I was told About after pregnancy and gd once the placenta is out you no longer have gd I had to be tested the next morning1 hour after just some toast and jam and if it was within the reading boundaries I didn’t need to test anymore then it’s just a blood test 8 weeks I had post partuem to check it’s gone then yearly ones as I was told 50% of people will go on to get type 2 diabetes
