Has anyone has gestational diabetes during pregnancy

I have a glucose test as my BMI was 30 I think when I found out I was pregnant, just wondering if anyone had diabetes and had any problems? Did it go after pregnancy

Had it in both my pregnancies, and yes it went away after both deliveries. Did have some of the associated complications, like polyhydramnios, prem labour, my first had some blood sugar issues at birth, my first was large for gestational age, etc.

@Chloe thank you for sharing, are your babies OK? Hopefully, I don't have it I'm just going for the test next week, also did you feel different did you know you had it?

I had it. Everything went fine. I managed it by watching diet. I planned a home birth with my midwife and she said as long as I didn't need insulin we could continue with a home birth. She did refer me to another clinic to get growth scans done and the doctor there claimed my baby was measuring small at 12 percentile and tried talking me out of a home birth and into an induction. He said my baby might be 7lbs... well fast forward, I did get a membrane sweep to try and ensure I didn't go past my due date and a week and a half later I had my baby after a quick 4 hour labor at home, baby was 8lbs, 6oz and 19.5in long. So over average and not too small at all. Placenta looked healthy. Baby's blood sugar was great. Also I had previously had mild shoulder dystocia with my first baby while pushing on my back, this second baby came out quick within minutes and I pushed standing up and on hands and knees.

Yes they are both perfectly healthy and arrived safely! No, didn’t know I had it, no signs or symptoms etc. But for me, it’s been late onset both times, I test negative for it throughout pregnancy until around 30-35 weeks.

I had fasting glucose issues so went on metformin then insulin for the last month, I followed the diet but it didn’t make a difference for me. No issues after for either me or my baby though!

I had it, kept diet controlled and baby is fine. Was only 6lb 3oz born on her due date after induction. I had lots of extra scans to keep an eye on baby as I also had gestational hypertension. Diabetes went away straight after delivery as it’s related to the placenta. However it increases the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes so I will have an annual blood test to check for this every year for the rest of my life.
