Potty training

Does anyone have any tips on how to start potty training? I feel like I need to start giving it a try but no idea where to start tbh! I think I’m going to struggle to get my little one to even sit on the potty/toilet Thank you!

I brought in a potty and left it in rooms my toddler would be in, not to use however it would allow him to be familiar with it & it makes it less scary! He also used to watch peppa pig, there was an episode where George was potty training; which familiarised him to the work potty, and also we have a potty time book! I think it also helped that he was watching me go to the toilet a lot (single parenting) and I’d have to say I’m going to the toilet. He now tells me he’s going to use the potty or the big toilet with no problems. Of course this might not be helpful or work; it was just my approach:) (also a sticker chart, he picked the stickers and got to put them on the chart himself, it made him more excited)

Have a look on NHS website for signs of readiness before you actually try.

I used the ‘oh crap method’ which was good. Book on kindle.

We did the 3 day method and worked really well! Just stayed in majority of the 3 days have no bottoms on all day, give them lots of water so they used to needing a wee often and we used a toilet potty so that every-time she went she could flush! Also praise is everything! After every use of the potty lots of cheering and high fives and gave her stickers every-time! Worked really well for us but every child is different! My lg is 2. Best of luck mumma but don’t be hard on yourself if it doesn’t work💖

Eric.org.uk I have recently been recommended to look at this website on potty training by the Health Visitors
