Epidural

Hi everyone. I’m hoping for a vaginal birth. I understand lots of things could happen but just trying to work through all the options. Currently weighing up whether to get the epidural “just in case” or not if I manage to go down the vaginal route. Does anyone know if there are other options for pain relief, should twin b need turning into the right position and I haven’t had one? Also if you want to do skin to skin, how do you lay back with the epidural in your back?!

Not quite answering your question here but thought you might find this useful. I had a vaginal delivery with my twins. It all happened incredibly fast because Twin A was head down and ready however Twin B was still horizontally tucked up under my rib! After the first delivery, when more space was available, the consultant was able to turn her vertical from the outside of my stomach. It didn’t hurt at all but the poor woman did have to hold her in that position for quite a while until my contractions started again. I only had paracetamol and a few puffs of gas and air for the whole thing x

Thank you! That’s really helpful

It’s very much personal preference I think and you don’t have to have it if you don’t want to, for me I’m going to have the epidural in case I have to have a Section as the idea of being put to sleep terrifies me. I’m guessing you must be able to lie on your back with it as that’s how you have a section so must not be an issue xx

@Lauren that’s a very good point, hadn’t thought of that! Thanks
