Potty training

Can anyone suggest a good way of potty training a non verbal 3 year old? He’s never done a wee or anything on the toilet despite me sitting him on it all the time. Should I just go straight in with Pants? I’m not even sure he knows what the toilet is for at this point. Should I leave potty training? Or persevere?

Following this for advice 😊. I don’t think my little boy has the understanding yet for potty training and don’t want to put too much pressure on him, but I think we will get there soon!

No advice sorry, but I've just been putting my 2yo on the potty after nappy changes lately and yesterday he peed in the potty! Today it was on the kitchen floor, so swings and roundabouts 😅 I'm just winging it so far but also hoping for advice x

Hey! 😊 I potty trained my 2 year old son at the time he was none Verbal as well. But I did the three day method! That means in the house no going out no clothes completely naked lol he was potty trained fully pee and poop in those three days! We drank LOTS of water and sat on the potty every thirty minutes! And if there was a accident we just said uh oh accidents happen but next time go run to your potty!and he in fact did! On the fourth day we took him out to the store and carried a potty in the car with us! Before we went in the store we sat on the potty and before we got back in the car we sat too and he was completely good!! It was a intense training though haha you have to watch like a HAWK 😂 but every child is different and does things differently! Just go with how your child wants to tell you either hand leading or just have him knock on something near by if he has to go! Something that will work for you and your child! Best of luck! 🤍

@Emma I wish I could he doesnt like drawing or any kind of games to be honest. He will watch an ipad while sat on the toilet, but i don’t really want that as I want him to concentrate and take in whats going on x

Just keep trying my semi verbal boy is 6 and still not fully potty trained it takes autistic kids longer I have my boy in pullups and he even does pee and poo on potty sometimes and then in pants 5 mins later so I think they may not understand the feeling as well

I would do just underwear or naked from bottom down. It might also help to put pictures of potties around the house so he can point to them when he needs to go.
