Proud Mummy post

This is by no means a gloating post (before anyone jumps on me)! I just wanted to share how incredibly proud I am of my little boy 😍 He is nearly 2 years 7 months and seems to have mastered potty training. It has been nearly a week now since we started, he has only had 3 accidents, 2 of which were at nursery and 1 at home. We aren't following any books or guides, just completely winging it and using a sticker chart for rewarding. At the start of the journey he did start off by refusing food/drink, and holding in his wees and poops, crying if he needed a poo while sat on potty, like he wouldn't let it come out (which I guess is normal for a lot of toddlers as its all different for them, must feel different too) but now, it's completely different, he just says "I need a wee/poo" and is quite happy sitting on the potty or toilet and going. He is so proud of himself and we are as equally beaming with proudness ❤️ Good luck to everyone else starting this journey 😘🚽

Hi, that is absolutely amazing and you should be so proud!🥰 should be able to celebrate these moments without any judgement! I’ve been starting with my daughter who is also 2 and 6months and she’s been doing a wee on the potty every now and then but can I just ask how you did it and seemed to get through it so quick? How did you go about it? Btw I think it’s brilliant!☺️❤️

My daughters speech is also limited as she’s having speech therapy and only says a few things so it’s still a bit tough words wise but she does show signs and uses signs to tell us❤️

Ahh congratulations 🙌 I’m the same with my son who’s 2 and a half , he’s done so amazing and only had 2 accidents in 3 weeks 🙌👌🏼 he starts back at preschool next week so not sure how that will go 🤔but hoping goes well 🙏x

@Samara thank you, and congratulations to you too!! Yes nursery is my worry too as they won't be as on it like we are at home because more children and different surroundings but 🤞🏻🤞🏻 they'll be okay!! Xx

@Jess Thank you! Sometimes you get knocked for celebrating things but I'm super proud right now as I honestly didn't even think he was ready and he has surprised us completely. Tbf he has been doing a wees every now and again on the toilet etc for a little while to get him used to it. We wanted him toilet trained before 3, so thought with the long bank holiday weekend was perfect time to start properly. He has always had pretty good understanding so that had definitely helped with the speed. He is still wearing nappies at night as he still wees a fair bit in his sleep as he has some milk before bed, but last night when was settling him he actually said need wee/poo even though he was wearing a nappy and went on the potty, then settled for the night. Thank you ❤️

@Jess ah I don't even know how we did it tbf, we just took the plunge bank hol weekend, put him in pants and hoped for the best. First day he had an accident, but then was okay until he went to nursery and then had 2 accidents. Since though he hasn't had any accidents and seems to have just nailed it 🤷🏻‍♀️ I wish I had more advice or tips but I don't 🥴

That's amazing, I'm thinking of starting this week... Any advice? Did you get a pooty you can travel with? Did you stay at home for a few days? We don't ever stay at home all day so don't really want to do that 🥴

Will definitely give it a go!👍🏼 going to buy some pants on Monday and start I think properly and see how she does and hope for the best! Thanks for the tips though! And congratulations! Definitely worth celebrating and a big proud moment😁❤️

@Lucy thank you 😊 we completely winged it, if I'm honest. We haven't got a travel potty yet, but have used toilets at places etc which he can be funny about as not a small seat so we have just brought a folding travel toddler toilet seat. I am in the process of looking for a carry potty to although I never used one with my eldest, we just always had regular toilet stops/wild wees 😅

We are in the same boat! Well done mama, we potty trained at 2.4 and it seems like the perfect age x

We did the same, I read about 10 pages of book ran out of time (also have 14 minth old twins) so just told her one morning OK no more nappies during the day hun just knickers... started off with a uti we might not have noted otherwise because the only symtpom was smelly wee that didn't notice in a nappy! After some antibiotics she's been fab. Just tells me she needs to go, goes and get her potty, has some help pulling her knickers down and away she goes. Luckily any out of the house accidents were on sand or grass 😂 We're in week 5 now I think and no accidents for over a week and the last was because we didn't get her to the potty quick enough.

Also to add our nursery was really supportive and has been really good with reminding her to go or taking her when she asks!

My LG is the same but still has a few accidents here and there when she's distracted which is normal. She's even adventured to our main toilet and pooping. I'm so proud of her because she seems to have led us into it and we've followed her lead . Only wear a pull up at night. I wasn't going to buy pull ups but thought she may think it's a knicker rather than a nappy of a night time .

@Sam yeah it's definitely easier when they lead the way. I think alot of parents put so much stress onto it. But truth be told, when they are ready they will x
