Abnormal NIPT results

Hi everyone, I came back high risk for trisomy 18 in my NIPT test. I’m absolutely devastated. I was so looking forward to finding out the results so I could find out the gender, now it feels so naive to have been so excited. Did anyone else out there get abnormal results?

Remember that high risk is a probability, not a diagnosis. Follow up with your health carer. I got an inconclusive, and they said that could be the baby bad development due to underlined condition. The following scans were fine. My son was born as healthy as he could be.

Agree 100% with Carol’s comment

My daughter had a high risk as well because of fetal DNA in my blood. She came out well and healthy.

Carol is right.. I know two people who was told news they didn’t expect to then give birth to healthy babies! So please have faith! All the best x

Thanks everyone for your words of support. I had a scan this morning and baby had enlarged NT and abnormal heart ventricles so the dr said she thought it was likely to be trisomy 18. I’ll have a cvs next week to confirm

Hi OP, I had a similar experience with my first and was absolutely gutted. Carol is right, it’s not a diagnosis but I understand that it’s still devastating to hear that it’s a possibility. I felt so sick to my stomach to the point I was hardly eating because I felt so physically unwell. My LO was fine in the end, he’s now a healthy and normal 1.5 year old. If you’re comfortable sharing an update in the future I’d appreciate it. We’re all rooting for you and your precious baby!

We are 100% rooting for you and your baby ❤️

In case anyone was wondering, the baby has trisomy 18 and I’ll be having a termination next week 😭

💔 Words don’t help much in a situation like this, but I’m thinking of you and your LO. I’ll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts, I’m so so sorry 😞

Like Stephanie said there is no much we can say..but you are in our thoughts. I am so so sorry.

I’m so sorry to hear this 😔. Hope you’re okay

I’m sorry to hear that. You have my deepest sympathies.
