Heavy periods since birth

So I'm so frustrated. I was sitting feeding my baby on my bed tonight and have bled right through my bedsheet, waterproof sheet and mattress protector and even a bit onto the mattress itself!! And I had a tampon in. This is my second period since birth. I lost a lot of blood after labour and had to have a blood transfusion and have been anaemic ever since. 6 weeks of bleeding and then first period not long after. Couldn't wear tampons with the pain for the first one so kept using maternity pads - i did leak while out and about as I hadn't been expecting it and it was heavy from day one. I've never had periods this heavy and this bed thing has frustrated me so much I'm tempted to go back on the pill even though I didn't want to be on it anymore as I was on it for 10 years and I heard it's not ideal to be on it long term. Any tips for heavy periods or how to get rid of them without affecting hormones? 😄 I hate it so much.

For context this is baby 2 for me. My periods were not anywhere near this heavy with baby 1!

I would continue with the big overnight pads for now & or the afterbirth diapers. They say tampons aren’t good for you. I’d also talk to your gp about your concerns.

A blood transfusion has nothing to do with the flow of your period. It's is common for periods to change after birth of a child. They will fluctuate again as your hormones level out. If it's concerning you speak to a GP

I would speak to your GP as that does sound really heavy. I’ve not had mine come back yet as I’m breastfeeding but mine have never been that heavy. I do love period cups and pants though, period pants might give you some extra protection with a pad.
