Potty training

Has anyone started potty training yet? My baby boy is showing readiness signs I think. He tells me when he has pooped and I’ve been having problems with him taking his diaper off and grabbing wipes and wiping his front end. He will also say poop even if it’s pee but after one pee in the diaper will want it changed. Also, this may not be a sign but I think it’s funny but when I’m on the toilet he will grab a wipe and try and wipe my front while saying “clean” 😆😂 I don’t want start and him not actually be ready. I hear bad things about that. Thanks in advance to any advice!

I am attempting a start today…not sure about it lol. My son keeps telling us every time he pees in his diaper. He’s recently told us when he’s pooped too. But he’s fully opposed to sitting on those small potties so I tried the potty you place atop the toilet seat and he was ok sitting on that today twice for a few minutes. No pee or poop though. I know most other moms say their boys were potty trained at 3 but I also know every child is different and I don’t want to ignore signs so I’m trying 🤷🏾‍♀️

@Anne We have one small bathroom so I’ve got one of those adult with baby sit attached in my Walmart cart! Just been holding off but I think I’ll go tomorrow! I’ve sat him on the toilet once and it was just because we got out of the shower and he was farting and I didn’t want him pooping in there so I placed him on toilet and all he did was fart still. Yeah I feel you not wanting to ignore the signs. I also just think it may be nice to have him potty trained before I have this baby in December. One less diaper to change and save some money on diapers lol

@Bree I would love that too! I’m due end of November but potty training my son with that goal in mind seems too daunting for me lol. All I know is that I’m going to try elimination communication with this new little one. I was skeptical about it for a while but figure I’ll try something different with the second one and see

Im kinda scared now mine doesn’t talk a lot and doesn’t tell me stuff like that

Back in the 50s kids were potty trained by 18 months. So you're not doing anything kids aren't capable of doing

My babygirl been picking at her diaper and trieds to take it off

To answer your question tho Yes I've started. She self initiates now. Just teaching her how to do her underwear now. But I will add, we've been doin elimination communication since she turned 6months. So by no means an easy feat. I recommend just doing easy "catches" so right after wake ups, put him on potty. And after anytime he's been in a container and after meals. Tho to be honest my girl pottys during meals so I had to wise up and offer about 10-15 minutes into our meal. I've trouble shooted just about every potty training issue in 4 months lol. I am not night time potty training till I have night weaned and she sleeps thru the night.
