In terms of the injection, I got a pen it wasn’t too bad pain wise. The night time one is slow release I believe so low blood sugar is not a risk and the insulin is just a synthetic of the insulin produced by your body. I would encourage you to write questions and concerns down and speak to your health care provider, they will be monitoring you closely and you will be provided with a blood glucose monitor so you can also keep an eye on it. I was told that due to being on insulin I would be induced but was also told if I really objected they would work with me.
I'm on insulin again in my second pregnancy. Basically watch your fasting readings as that'll tell you if you need to reduce it by if your readings are too low but it's doubtful that will happen. Injecting is scary at the start but you get used to it and feel it less than the finger pricks. Even if you go on insulin you do not have to be induced. They may recommend it but it is up to you. Here is a page of research about induction with GD. https://www.gestationaldiabetes.co.uk/induction/ With my first I was booked to be induced at 39 weeks but went into labour that day before the appointment so didn't need it. They want to induce then again this time which I'm ok with as I hope I go into labour before again. They may suggest 38 weeks as he's measuring bigger but I think I will refuse and accept 39 weeks again.
