Wedding?

So my boyfriend and I got engaged. But I have ABSOLUTELY no idea how to plan a wedding. We are super broke so and we only want a small wedding anyway. We’re thinking about having a small party idea but I’m not sure how we would do that. Anyone have cheap wedding ideas? I don’t know where to start.

Hey there! I didn’t have a small wedding personally but after the fact, I wished I did lol I found a bunch of ideas if I were to do it all over again on YouTube!

Girl anything helps!!!

For sure, there’s even wedding planners who give free advice if you’re doing it on your own

The ceremony is the most important thing. It doesn’t matter if you have £100 or £100,000 to spend. As long as it’s what you want it doesn’t matter the cost. We hand made a lot of our bits. Invites, seating plans, centre pieces , place cards. Remember as well no one remembers what you had at your wedding a few weeks/months later. Flowers are expensive do fake flowers you can resell. Charity shops often do wedding bits. Use a bed sheet as a back drop for photos if you need an area. Store bought cake you can personalise. Dessert as a centre piece. Do 1 meal like a buffet which can just be topped up for reception most day guests don’t eat again in the evening. Have a friend do photography. Most phones can do the fancy stuff anyway. First pick your venue then the rest will come along. Workout what’s most important and your “dream” thing do them then scrimp the rest.

@Heather Thank You So Much!!! 🩷🩷

I thrifted my dresses! Poshmark is your best friend! Thrift as much as you can. Only splurge on what matters most to you like a photographer or a venue. We had 12 guests. 6k was for the photographer/video. We made all the food ourselves, we had a small party the day before. Our cake was around 200. Dinner after the wedding was graciously split between our families. It does NOT have to be extravagant! Our wedding was so tiny but so meaningful & a blast! Very best of luck ❤️

Thrift/Facebook marketplace.!! You can find so many things you can use.!!

I know it’s not necessarily what you’re asking but we couldn’t afford a wedding so we got married at the courthouse. Quick and simple, but also got to bring close friends and family to be with us. I had a cheap wedding dress on clearance that didn’t need to be altered, thankfully. We had a big party a couple weeks after with the rest of our friends and family. It was awesome and honestly wouldn’t have had it any other way. You can make a wedding as cheap as necessary. Do you have family to help? Maybe do a backyard wedding. At our local hardware store, we can rent tables and chairs for 50 people for $150/day. Buy a cheap trellis on Amazon for the ceremony and decorate with fake floral. Check out bridal shops for clearance sales or even just get a white dress and dress it up yourself if you’re good at that. I knew of a bride who bought a white homecoming/prom dress and tie dyed it for her wedding.

I can give you a great one. Since you like small gatherings it should be perfect(if you don't mind courthouses) all you would need is a witness for both. Then you can rent a hall or even have the lil party at one of your homes. It's let's time intimate settings and your friends and family can join

We just did a council office number and a dinner. Maybe a party in 5 years. 🤣

Following this cuz my boyfriend and I are in the exact same boat. Broke and no clue what we are doing 😂

@Ashleigh it’s so rough 😂😭

Idk if this helps but if you have Reddit, there’s a group called “weddings under 10k” and you can either look through past posts or create your own asking stuff, but it might be helpful :)
