Leukocytes and protein in urine

I’ve had leukocytes and protein in my urine consistently for 3 appointments now but my blood pressure is perfect and I’ve tested negative for UTI. Has anyone had this and know what could be causing it?

Me too!!!! No idea

@Romi good to know I’m not alone!! Super weird though

Same!

It’s a really common thing to show up from discharge contamination. If you do have any heavy discharge may be worth asking for a swab to rule out any vaginal infections

@Ceri-Ann I’ve had my urine sent off for testing a couple times and always comes back negative for infections!

The one time my leukocytes were slightly raised I had a minor eye infection at the same time. It can literally just be a a minor infection somewhere in your body. It was sent off for testing but came back negative meaning it was most likely the eye infection. My midwife said it can also be caused by a minor skin inflammation or similar.

But that’s urine. A vaginal infection won’t show up as the urine doesn’t pass through the vagina only picks up trace amounts of contaminated discharge. If you have any heavy discharge a low vaginal swab is always worth a check

@Ceri-Ann the second time they checked for any kind of infection in my urine and discharge remnants would’ve been in there. In any case, I did have a swab due to suspected broken waters and they checked for infections there too and still negative

@Liv I did have a cold over the weekend so wondering if it could be that?

I reckon it could easily be something minor like that

In that case it will just be contaminations from discharge. Discharge is made up of white blood cells and are part of the immune systems defenses. It’s common if you have high ammounts of discharge to get leukocytes and protein in your urine without anything being wrong
