I was throwing up consistently when I was pregnant with my son but did not have an issue with the drink. I get lemon lime and it tastes like flat sprite. If you ask they can usually give you a cold one. Which tastes better.
It made me extremely sick. But this time my OB offers better options like eating a meal before the test and not having to drink the drink.

@Linda the drink made me extremely nauseous and I had to try so hard to not throw up until the test was done.
@Athena oh man, maybe I’ll take a nausea pill before? I heard someone say to try that
I would just opt for the blood tests if you’re worried about throwing up, unless you have an issue with needles.

@Linda then yeah tell them you would rather do the glucose test strips and they should send the kit right to your pharmacy. They’ll have you do it every day for the week leading up to up to your next appointment and should give you a sheet to track the results of each test. There was no way I was risking making myself sick lol so I’m doing it this way
The drink tastes like a melted popsicle tbh. It’s not terrible going down, really! I felt a bit nauseous after about 45 minutes but it subsided once I got some protein and fat into my belly afterwards.
The drink tastes like Gatorade to me or like someone else said, melted popsicles. It’s not as bad as everyone says. I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy and had to do an early test with this pregnancy so I’ve had this drink 4 times now between both pregnancies and tried all the flavors. Orange or fruit punch taste the best IMO. Never had any bad side effects from the drink any of the times I’ve been tested. I just bring a book to read while I’m waiting and chill.
I was fine with it my first pregnancy. I think my prior days at the bar helped me prepare. Just chug like it’s a drink you don’t like but you spent the money so you might as well drink up

I’m in the same boat! I have emetophobia and I’ve been very lucky and haven’t gotten sick this whole pregnancy. I JUST had the appointment yesterday where they told me next time I’ll have to do the drink. I said NOPE lol I asked if there was anything else I can do. She said no, then I asked why I can’t prick my finger and test my sugar that way? She said I can do that lol so they sent a glucometer and test strips to my pharmacy. For one week I have to prick my finger a few times a day and record the reading. Totally worth it :)
