Circumsition.

My lil man got Circumcised today , new experience for me. Papas okay the first few hours were out of this world for me but he’s settled now. I’ve seen posts saying people put Vaseline in his nappy I was told not to why’s everyone else different?

What did your practitioner tell you? We were told to literally smother in Vaseline. Like if you thought you put enough, you need to put more! It helps keep its moisturised (ours started smelling a little coz was getting too dry) but also keeps the wee off it in a way. Did you have the ball method?

I got advice to put germolene in their nappy and it numbs the pain and after 5 days my lil man didnt need the cream no more, ring fell off on day 8 bless him

I know it’s not related to what you’re talking about out of interest why do baby boys need to be circumcised that young apart from the reasons of faith?

@Becky if you search circumcition nhs it will give you a list of beneficial reasons x

@Isha we got told to put lots of Vaseline. It’ll help as a barrier and stop the sting from the wee. Also to help the ring fall off. My LB was fine shortly after. We also put an extra nappy ontop of his actual nappy, to act as an extra cushioning, to prevent any hurt when we picked him up.

@Becky it's only done for medical reasons in the UK. For example my brother's urethra was covered so he couldn't urinate properly. He was circumcised at 2. My little boy has no problems so we have not done it.

@Becky unless it's medically necessary there is no benefit. It's just a cultural and religious thing.

@Isha , how old is your boy? my LO is 2 months old today and I’m not sure when’s the best time to get it done😩

@Michelle 3weeks& 6days I think the younger they are the better they won’t have memories of it xxx

@Aye my friends and family said the same thing but I dunno know who to listen to & oo a hack ima try it too x

@Becky hygiene x

@Sam what’s germolene?x

@Sofia they told me not to put anything x

@Isha yes younger the better say a week or so old

It’s a cultural thing not “just a cultural thing” and important to those that practice it. Not to be confused with female circumcision btw.

In US they’re lucky they do it in the hospital before mum leaves here in UK we (meaning my community) call someone from the Jewish or Muslim community in the first 7-10, maybe 14 days.

I’m waiting for the doctors appointment to be confirmed my LB is 2 weeks old, I’m very nervous to get it done

yeah you have so completely cover it in vaseline for the first 7-10 days. like globs of it tbh. to keep it from sticking to the diaper

@Isha we applied Vaseline every nappy change too, and extra at night. We also gave him a salt water bath twice a day, ring fell off within 5 days x

@Becky people say hygiene but as long as you are bathing baby there isn't an actual need. Depends where you're from too, un the UK it's hardly ever done unless a medical need. America tend to do it regardless. Just varies

@Isha tbh I would still put the Vaseline 😅😅 coz honestly the STENCH when it started to get too dry was nasty. And like someone else said, GLOBS of Vaseline.

Where did you get it done I was literally googling places yesterday ? And what was the price ?

@Sanober I couldn’t watch the process so he went in without me, ask one of your friends or family to accompany you just incase x

@Ellie thanks for this xx

@luu🤎 thanks for this x

@Dee oh wow that’s better x

My older boys got theirs done at Sunday circumcision clinic & the baby got his done the Midlands circumcision centre & xxx

@Isha my 4 weeks old did his 2 weeks ago and we had to put Vaseline on it at every diaper change we also rubbed it on the diaper with sanitized /clean hands Think that really helped and he had salt water bath for 8 days

@isha germolene is an anti-septic cream
