Gestational diabetes

Anyone else been diagnosed with it? Definitely was a shock when I found out yesterday. Any tips or suggestions?

Yeah, I found out last week! The finger pricking is a bit of a pain and my blood sugar seems to spike at the smallest thing. Do you have a visit with the diabetic clinic booked in? Mine is next week, so I'm hoping they can give me a bit of guidance.

I don’t know whether your hospital offer this but when I was diagnosed in my previous pregnancy I was offered an appointment with a dietician and I found that really helpful - might be worth asking to see if they offer it!

Highly recommend the GD UK Facebook page and website for tons of info on how to manage it. Currently on my second GD pregnancy 🙃

@Georgia oh amazing thank you! I'm going to check that out myself. Oh no, twice! That's a nightmare

I’m on GD pregnancy number two as well and can 100% recommend that group. Definitely look into food pairing as the NHS often just give generic dietary advice (eat well plate etc) which often doesn’t help with GD blood sugar targets.

Follow their guidelines. I put cheese with everything and that seems to help keep the levels stable

Thanks so much everyone! Have an appointment tomorrow at the hospital so will learn more then. Checking out the fb group!
