Dentist for toddler

If you register a toddler at the dentist, do they automatically get treated as an NHS patient?

Only if you are registered as an NHS patient yourself. I called numerous dentists about this and I was told he would be put on the waiting list like everyone else

Weirdly both me and my partner are not registered at this particular dentist but registered our daughter this morning, I wasn’t there and my partner told me she is registered and has an appointment in a weeks time, I was shocked because I’ve been told it takes a long time due to the waiting lists for NHS patients. I’ve just called to ask if she has been registered as an NHS patient and they’ve said yes which I’m super surprised about.

Mine got registered and within 2 days had their appointments. NHS, but think I got lucky xx

That’s really good! I think they should all take toddlers on the NHS anyway, it’s not like they have ever had chance to register before 😅 We’ve ended up having to all sign up as NHS patients at a dentist 1.5 hours away as none of the ones near us were taking new patients on

I signed up as a private patient and they said they’d add my daughter as NHS

I'm a private patient with our dentist but they seen me through the NHS while pregnant and they take my son as an NHS patient until he's 18.. otherwise its a completely private dental practice
