potty training

anyone got any tips for potty training? my son is 2.5 and today is our first day of potty training. i’ve been putting him on the potty every 20/30 minutes, he’s had dry pants all day apart from two accidents, one pee and one poo. we’ve got a sticker chart and every time he does a wee on the potty he gets a sticker on his chart. he doesn’t ask to use the potty or tell me when he needs a wee, i’ve just been consistently putting him on there every 20/30 minutes. any other tips welcome or if there is anything else i should be doing?

We let our little one be pantless for the 1st day, taking him every 30 mins and then on the 2nd day tried pants he had a few accidents so went back to naked and he would just take himself, needed the occasional reminded, it stayed like that for a while until we could build his confidence up in clothes, we’re still struggling with going the toilet while out but he’ll get there x

he has school tomorrow so can’t be pantless but i’m definitely going to try going without pants for the rest of the week! is he dry and asks to go potty when he’s at home? or are you still doing every 30 minutes?

highly recommend the ‘potty training box’ it worked wonders for us and LB was fully potty trained in a week. He was 2 and 4 months when we did it xx

We started the first week of the holidays and we are pretty much accident free now, maybe 1 or 2 a week (not counting the odd dribble where we aren't quick enough). He has worn pants from the start - I've had friends who have done the pantless method who have then had problems when trying to introduce them so decided not to bother - for the first 3 weeks he rarely asked, I just put him on the potty at least every hour. For the last 2 weeks he's been much more consistent with asking for a wee and a poo but I still prompt if we are going out, when out or if busy playing. Sounds like you've had a really successful start - we got through 14 pairs of pants on the first day 😂 Good luck!

@Emma oh that’s so good that he’s almost there! yeah he had a really good first day and he went to school today with pants on and they said he did really well no accidents and had lots of praise from his teachers! i’m just going to persist and be consistent with putting him on the potty regularly and hoping soon he will start asking to go on there. we are also sticking with pants and he get the feeling of being wet if he does have an accident with i think helps him realise he has been xx
