When to tell work?

Hi 😊 I'm 13 weeks and have recently started a new job. I didn't know I was pregnant when I took on the role and have got myself worked up over when how and to tell my managers. Any advice from experience or thoughts from people in a similar boat would be very welcome! 💖 TYSM.

My work have known since I was about 5 weeks because I was so Ill, I told my supervisor who then told management 🤣 risk assessments are carried out from I think the 14th week they were completely fine and have been very supporting throughout I'm 12 weeks on Friday x

Maybe mid second trimester maybe around 20 weeks or something. Just so you can figure out after pregnancy and maternity plans. Along with if you’ll get paid or not

I started my current job at 22 weeks into my pregnancy so I told them as soon as i signed the contract. I was very worried on how they would take it but they actually were very nice about it. Remember its your legal right to have a kid and take time off so don’t feel bad about it 🙂

I started my new job not realising I was pregnant too, I was 5 weeks at that point and none the wiser! I found honesty was the best policy and have been very open with my manager, he's been great with no animosity at all. At the end of the day, you would of been employed long enough to claim maternity pay through them, so don't worry about it! No point putting any extra stress on you and baby 😊

Thanks everyone 😊 it is really reassuring to hear 💖

Out of interest how long do you have to be employed to be entitled to maternity pay?

I was 3 months into my job when i found out and i told them early because i was so sick but my manager and hr team have been nothing but lovely and accommodating and reassuring! 🥰 I actually told hr before my manager because she is female and i felt more comfortable then we told my male manager together x
