Diaper changes

Wait he *has* or hasn’t been able to poop on his own? From what I’ve learned, newborns don’t necessarily have to have a ton of poops a day! Each baby is different, just like adults. Wet diapers are more important than poos in that regard. I was worried bc our one week old does mayyybe two or three dirty diapers a day? Plenty more of wet ones. The pediatrician says that’s fine! As long as they do at least one big one or a couple small ones

My pediatrician said it's normal for them to go to one poopy diaper a day, as long as they still have several wet ones is ok

@Moira well the other day he went all day without a poopy diaper and the next day we took the thermometer and put Vaseline and put it in his rectum to help give him to loosen up

@Moira same. I just checked with mine yesterday cus my girl hadn't pooped in over 24 hours but she said she was probably fine. My daughter didn't poo for 33 hours total but she didn't seem uncomfortable or anything so sometimes you just have to wait it out

@Liz exactly! My girl doesn't go often but I know she fine cuz she farts a lot lol

@Moira omg all the time! I check her diaper a lot during those periods because I think she blew out her diaper 🤣

@Moira yeah he's been passing gas but at the same time me being a first time mom and him not pooping worries me

It does make you worry lol that's why I asked the Dr yesterday. I wouldn't worry until he's obviously having trouble pooping. That does mean a lot of screaming and unfortunately he'd be uncomfortable but until you know for sure he's constipated there's not much you can do. My Dr suggested if the child gets constipated and they're over a month old to try a little apple juice mixed with water but not too much because it can overcorrect their system and then you'll have another problem

@Liz haha same. But literally the one time I DIDNT check she DID blow out her diaper and I was holding the naked baby so it got ALL over me without realizing until i went to move her XD
