Do real friends make time to wish you a happy birthday?

Over the weekend it was my birthday, a girlfriend I’ve had for 2 years now, spoke with me the day before and we talked about how the following day was my birthday and my thoughts about it, on the day of my birthday she disappears and doesn’t wish me a happy birthday for two days, but, people who’ve done her wrong she remembers their birthday and make it a point to reach out and prioritize them. I’ve had some encounters where she’s switched up of seemed different towards me around certain people, I know that was a red flag in itself, but, I also know she struggled with self acceptance and needing acknowledgment from outsiders. I’m now clear that we really aren’t friends and likely acquaintances, but is it worth discussing?

@Kara Pennington Thank you, Kara. That’s what I figured, to talk about it, and the following day make sense, but the two days disappearing and we dont have the history like you and your bestie from childhood, it just seems suspect, but I still should talk about it.

Most people are extremely selfish- reduce your expectations to zero

sorry to jump on but my own mother in law didn't even wish me a happy birthday on the 9th of August so I would do the same don't wish her a happy birthday then people make a priority with whom they want unfortunately hope you're OK.

Thank you so much for responding to this post, it can be hurtful navigating relationships in general, but especially when they’re forced and you’re ignoring the red flags
