NC Medicaid

So I was wondering, for those in North Carolina that qualified for Pregnancy Medicaid, how long did it take to get approved? I went to the Health Department and they said I’m eligible and I applied and I’m waiting to be approved before I can make an appointment.

For me i heard something within a week if not two. They do a phone interview if there’s any additional questions they may have. Keep checking your emails! I also received a phone call from my rep so they will contact you for sure. I hope this helped!

It takes awhile. Depending on your county. I would go ahead and make an appointment and when you get your card info, provide it to them and they can bill your insurance

they normally let you make appts then just give them insurance # when you get it . it should cover up to 3 months prior

I use Atrium Health. I can’t afford out of pocket. So will they still see me if I don’t have insurance right now but I will once it’s approved??

They will back date it to the beginning of the month you applied if not the month before. It depends on how far along you are sometimes. Call the medicaid office and just ask for an update. Did you get the medical grade test and turn it in with your application?

Tyrika is right it back dates 3 months from when you apply. My office didn’t charge while I was waiting on Medicaid, because they knew it was pending approval and when I got my card I brought it to them.

@Rae so in my county after you have a positive at home, I went to the Health Department and they tested and did all the pregnancy paperwork and set me up for Medicaid and WIC and everything.

@Stefany thank you! I’ll call and make an appointment. I’ve done this before and like I’ve completely forgot how I did it😂

I’m in Scotland county doesn’t take long at all if you have proof of pregnancy from a Dr it speeds up the process. I already had family planning Medicaid because I didn’t qualify for traditional Medicaid due to my income but hopefully they’ll approve me but if not I have insurance through my job

@Davida I went to the health department and they did all the paperwork and sent it in. I also took pictures and sent that in through the Epass

I applied online last year, and they called within a couple days. Anytime I had questions, I would go online first because that seems to be the quickest way to get in touch with them
