Has anyone tried perineal massages??

My first pregnancy my nurse had to stretch me every few minutes before I got ready to push because apparently I have a narrow pelvis and long cervix sooooo it wasn't the most comfortable experience. Did anyone do this and it actually works?

Yes we did the weeks following up to my first. Thanks for the reminder I’m going to have to start again soon being 34 weeks. I felt like it helped knowing what the ring of fire feels like & eased into the uncomfortable until it was more tolerable. Timed for like 30 seconds at a time for a few minutes a couple times a week. Used cocoa nut oil & practiced breathing through it like I would for birth. Used hypno birthing tips.

Def check out chiropractor that is certified to do perineal adjustments!

My chiro helped so much with my first pregnancy. They can help you pelvis open and adjust to support your baby

We did and I had minimal tearing. I definitely recommend. Also second that breathing techniques during the pushing stage helps a lot too.

@Jocelyn Did you have an unmedicated pregnancy the first time around?

@Carolyn I was wondering if this would be covered by insurance 😯

I really wanted to do perineal massages but only managed to do 1 before giving birth. I had a vaginal birth at 39 weeks with zero tearing. I think it may work for some and not work or be necessary for others.

@Tanisha yes I had an unmediated vaginal birth first time 🤍 I’m hoping to get my water birth with this one.
