What do you think?? Agree, disagree, or discuss. More below.

People often say “having a 2nd child for your first is not a good reason to have another” while I do agree with that statement, the more I have thought about it, the more I wonder, what is a good reason? Because if we think about it logically, having kids at all is a pretty crazy idea. They take your time, energy, money, and sanity with barely any thank yous. Becoming a parent is signing up for a lifetime of worrying/loving another being until the end of time. So why is it so horrible to reproduce a second time with the main reason being that you want your child to have the chance to experience life with another person who shared the same upbringing? We all know that having a second does not guarantee that they will get along. But having a child at all does not guarantee they will turn out exactly how you want them to. It’s all a risk at the end of the day. I loved growing up with my brothers, and yes, I would like to create more family. Why is that seen as “not a good enough reason”

If the main reason is that you genuinely want your kids to have siblings that’s different than saying “we’re having a second (or third) so they can play together and we get more adult time”

Wanting a big family where kids have siblings is so valid; Wanting to create a tiny workforce to take over your parental responsibilities is insane & unfair.

You have a child because you want one. Not because you want one for your existing child.

Agree with y’all, thankfully I’ve not heard of anyone saying they only want kids to be a workforce or to entertain their other child.
